Axis unveils first fixed dome network camera with megapixel in MPEG-4

The Axis 216MFD takes fixed dome cameras to an entirely new level by offering megapixel resolution in MPEG-4. Historically, fixed dome cameras have been utilized to monitor a wide range of locations such as retail stores, airports, banks, schools, and government buildings. The Axis 216MFD enhances the effectiveness of video surveillance in such areas by delivering a resolution over three times higher than that of traditional CCTV dome cameras. The enhanced resolution allows the 216MFD to more accurately identify objects and individuals by covering larger areas and providing clearer images. This technology is especially useful for checkout areas, bank tellers, entrances, and exits, where clear and detailed surveillance footage can prove invaluable.

Bangkok turns to Axis IP cameras in traffic congestion battle

Traffic congestion is a huge problem in Bangkok. 2.6 million cars take to the streets in and around the city on an average day, and it's estimated that 500 new cars add to that number with each passing day. The incredible amount of traffic in Bangkok has led to severe pollution, a high volume of accidents, and this remarkable figure: Bangkok drivers spend and average of 22 days per year sitting inside their cars.

Axis 215 PTZ has eyes in the back of its head

Network camera leader Axis Communications recently released its latest pant/tilt/zoom model, the 215 PTZ. What separates the Axis 215 PTZ from typical network dome cameras is its ability to pan 360 degrees. With most PTZ camera models, an operator must manually rotate an image 180 degrees in order to get a complete 360-degree perspective. The Axis 215 PTZ features Auto-flip functionality which allows it to automatically flip the image electronically, enabling properly oriented, continuous 360-degree panning without delay. Say for instance a suspected shoplifter enters the camera's field of vision. The 215 PTZ has the ability to follow the suspect a full 360 degrees without interruption. E-flip, a similar feature built into the camera, provides continuous viewing of those who pass directly below the camera.

Introducing the Axis 211W Network Camera

Axis has added to its 211 series of fixed network cameras with the wireless 211W (available in July). In the past, some IP camera users have voiced concern and questions in regard to the security of their wireless signals. The Axis 211W aims to squelch those concerns by offering the highest possible level of wireless security. The camera utilizes Enterprise and Personal Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA/WPA2) to provide secure wireless communications, along with HTTP encryption and IEEE 802.1X access control for both Ethernet and wireless network connections. (The 211W offers the choice of wireless connection to an IP network, or Ethernet connection along with support for Power over Ethernet.)

Axis announces Active Tampering Alarm Technology at ASIS 2007

One of the biggest risks for surveillance cameras is tampering - any type of foul play with a security camera could prevent it from keeping a building secure, preventing crime and protecting employees and customers. Axis has unveiled a new network camera technology which will hopefully reduce the risks and consequences of disturbing security cameras (whether the disturbance be intentional or unintentional).
