Steelbox Networks unveils Steelbox 1250 and Steelvault 5300 digital video distribution and storage solutions
Steelbox Networks has unveiled two new products built to handle video distribution and storage for large surveillance camera networks. The Steelbox 1250 is an advanced NVR (network video recorder) that can manage up to 250 security cameras, while the Steelvault 5300 storage array delivers high-performance, video-grade network attached storage (NAS).
Reports from Frost & Sullivan estimate that by 2010, IP-based systems will make up roughly 75 percent of the video surveillance market. This steady push towards IP equipment calls for new developments in high-volume video storage and distribution, and Steelbox is one of the companies moving forward in this area.
The Steelbox 1250 offers a wealth of sophisticated functions, including simultaneous viewing and playback, and recording of up to 250 high-resolution network camera video streams. Also included with the 1250 is the Steelbox Studio video management suite for system configuration, network monitoring, and video viewing. It's ideal for video surveillance applications requiring over 50 cameras. The Steelvault 5300 includes redundant power supplies, hot-swappable drives, and comes in 4 to 16 terabyte, RAID 0/5 configurations. The 5300 is powerful enough to support the largest video surveillance systems, but is also set at a price point meant to be affordable to those running smaller applications as well.
