NJ school surveillance system feeds directly to police department
In recent years, more and more schools have installed security cameras as a way to better protect students, faculty and staff from potential threats. Public schools in Demarest, New Jersey are taking the idea of school surveillance a step further by installing security cameras that send live video feeds directly to the local police department.
Along with offering remote monitoring from the police headquarters, the system also allows for mobile surveillance. Using laptop computers, Demarest police are able to monitor up to 16 different camera angles simultaneously. This gives officers in the field the ability to view an incident and assess the situation before they arrive at the scene. In emergency situations, having direct access to the camera feeds, and the visual evidence they provide, can also help to speed up response times.
