Security cameras provide 24-hour watch in South Dallas
Walking through the Jubilee Park neighborhood in South Dallas is certainly no walk in the park. The area has a history of crime and drug-dealing. But recent efforts have been made to clean up this section of South Dallas. The latest move involves the installation of 7 new surveillance cameras to watch over high-crime hot spots. The system will eventually expand to 14 cameras.
The video surveillance neighborhood watch does what the physical police force can't do -- provide 24-hour monitoring throughout the area.
Jubilee Park business owners feel the comprehensive surveillance system will help not only in securing their businesses, but also in encouraging others to move in. In the past year, there have been a high volume of assaults, burglaries and robberies reported in the neighborhood. Police are hopeful the new cameras will deter crime and will also provide valuable footage for investigations.
The video surveillance system will be monitored remotely from the 911 center in Dallas' City Hall, and operators will have the ability to pan the security cameras 360 degrees in order to get clear images of suspicious activity.
