PacketHop leaps into partnership with Axis Communications
Axis Communications, and PacketHop, a leading provider of wireless IP video networks, have joined forces in a partnership designed to offer cost-effective, flexible and mobile, high-quality video solutions targeted at a variety of professional installations. Packethop's wireless IP networked video system will support Axis network cameras and video servers.
As the video surveillance industry continues its transition from analog CCTV to digital IP-based systems, video surveillance installations that operate over wireless networks are on the rise. Because the PacketHop wireless IP networked video system doesn't require cabling, it allows for video surveillance deployments in a broad range of areas previously considered, difficult, tricky, and costly in terms of video monitoring. The coupling of PacketHop's system with Axis network cameras and servers makes high-quality video surveillance a reality for locations such as event venues, parking lots, schools and constructions sites, as well as moving vehicles like subways, trains, buses and other forms of public transit.
PacketHop uses DynaMesh technology in order to optimize bandwidth while intelligently handling video distribution. This helps to keep picture quality high while avoiding dropped frames, which is important when operating over wireless networks that could experience bandwidth limitations.
With this partnership, Axis can continue to expand its foray into the wireless IP surveillance arena, adding further flexibility and mobility to its innovative line of network cameras.
